The visionary duo, Bob and Melinda Blanchard, had plans to build their dream beach restaurant on the Caribbean island of Anguilla. I was asked to join the team to manage the creative development of this paradise in paradise — this included creating an experiential and colorful brand that became the foundational story of the restaurant.

Today, Blanchards Beach Shack is an iconic landmark in Anguilla known to travelers from around the world.

The brand identity’s objective was to be casually timeless with an authentic and sunny disposition.

In addition, the Beach Shack would be about legacy. Blanchards sister restaurant, located next door, had been a ‘mecca for foodies in the Caribbean’ for over twenty years. Blanchards Beach Shack would need to uphold the same integrity which had been meticulously cared for by the Blanchards since its opening in 1994.

The vibrant Caribbean palette reflects the island location and colorful culture which is layered with handmade graphic illustrations.

Creating a cohesive and a unique brand story included implementing details on the logo, environmental graphics, merchandise, uniforms, menu design, service items, website design, and social media marketing — all created by DC Creative Studio.

The Beach Shack’s culture is to connect with customers through authenticity, providing an exceptional guest experience. With this in mind, broadening engagement through social media was achieved by highlighting what guests love the most — the warmth of the island’s hospitality, the pristine beach location, the colorful Caribbean story, and the delicious food and drinks.

Expanding the brand story to social platforms has allowed visitors to engage from all over the world, resulting in higher organic rankings.
